1. Membership Requirements

These are set out in the formal application form

2. Standard of Work

All work must comply with the requirements of the Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations 1999.

To ensure that compliance with the Water supply (Water fittings) regulations 1999 is maintained a proportion of completed jobs will be subject to random audit inspections.
Where a member undertakes the installation and repair of gas installations it is the duty of the member to ensure the work is in accordance with the relevant gas safety regulations and the member must hold the appropriate (Gas Safe) qualifications.

3. Cost of Membership

Currently membership of the scheme is free of charge, but Severn Trent Water Ltd reserve the right to introduce a charge in the future.

4. Administration

Approved plumbers shall keep a record for not less than two years of all Regulation related jobs completed.

A copy of the self certificate form and all subsequent forms to be completed and sent in to Severn Trent Water at the end of the year.

On new development sites all initial self certification forms must be completed and sent into Severn Trent Water prior to any connections being carried out.

Severn Trent Water will keep copies of all jobs submitted.

6. Auditing of the Scheme

Severn Trent Water will carry out inspections of each members work annually or whenever applicable.

Severn Trent Water will contact the customer and member informing them of their intention to carry out an audit inspection. The member need not attend the inspection unless specifically requested to do so, or requests to attend.

Any contravention of the regulation's found will be discussed with the member. The contravention's will not be discussed on site with the customer unless the contravention's constitutes a contamination risk to the customer and or the public water supply.

Failure by the member to rectify at their own expense any contravention found during, or subsequent to the inspection, will make them liable for removal from the scheme and possible legal action by Severn Trent Water.

7. Insurance

Members must have public liability insurance cover to the value of at least £1m.

8. Termination (Member)

If the member is found to be carrying out work which is not in accordance with the Water supply (Water Fittings) Regulations 1999, or fails to comply with any of the foregoing requirements, Severn Trent Water reserve the right to terminate the membership and remove the plumber from the approved list.

The plumber that has been removed from the approved list shall remove all membership reference from his / her advertising material and stationery.

9. Termination of Scheme by Severn Trent Water

Severn Trent Water reserve the right to terminate the Approved Plumbers Scheme (WaterMark) at any time for whatever reason.
