Our 25 year strategy

‘Focus on Water’

As a water company, using the natural environment to provide one of the most basic needs to our customers, we are aware of the impact that our actions may have on our local environment and on our customers.

We also have a significant impact on our communities and regional economy through the services we deliver, as a major employer and as a purchaser of goods and services. We recognise our responsibility to take full account of our impact on the local community and environment in everything we do.

Our Strategic Direction Statement sets out our direction of travel for the next 25 years.  In developing the statement, we have consulted widely with key stakeholders and carried out detailed market research among our domestic and business customers.

As a result of our first round of consultation, we published a draft Strategic Direction Statement on our website. This draft document formed the basis for wider consultation:

  • We published the document on our intranet and encouraged feedback from staff.
  • We sent the draft directly to the Environment Agency, DWI, Defra, Ofwat, CCWater, Countryside Commission for Wales and Natural England and met with them to discuss our priorities.
  • We informed local councils and MPs about the draft and encouraged feedback.
  • We have also taken into account the objectives for the water industry set out in the Environment Agency’s Water Sector Plan.

We are very grateful to all those who have provided feedback and we have taken their comments in consideration in the final production of our Strategic Direction Statement.

Two versions of the statement are available to download:

Next Steps

We continue to welcome feedback on this document and consider our Strategic Direction Statement to be a living document. Its content will need to be reviewed as new information becomes available.
