New pumping station for Craven Arms

People living in Craven Arms, Shropshire will soon see work begin on a new £300k sewerage pumping station adjacent to the Community Centre and playing fields at Newington Way.  The new pumping station is required as the existing station is near the end of its useful lifespan.

David Gordon, area manager for Severn Trent Water said “We want to deliver a modern, efficient sewage pumping solution that will reduce the risk of flooding to our customers and to the residents of Craven Arms.

Unfortunately, to allow us to provide a new site for the pumping station, we will have to remove some of the existing play equipment next to the all weather sports court.  To compensate for this, when Shropshire Council enhance and move the play area to an adjacent field, we have agreed to make a contribution of £22k towards new equipment.

This is currently being progressed by Craven Arms Youth Group and Shropshire Council’s Outdoor Recreation Team”.

Severn Trent Water’s contractor Enterprise will be starting work next week and take approximately 16 weeks to complete the work.
